WHAT IS FBLA?
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a nonprofit, international, student-led business-related organization. The high school level has over 215,000 members nationally. This organization is oriented to provide opportunities for students to develop and create interest for the American Business Enterprise, develop vocations for business careers, and to promote responsibility. FBLA's mission statement is: to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
Every year, members of FBLA participate in section-wide competitions on business competencies, technology related topics, speaking, and much more. Competition topics are self-studied and there are no distinct guidelines on what should be studied. Top scorers at Section Competitions move on to State and from there to Nationals. Oak Park is part of the Gold Coast Section of California, and includes schools such as Westlake, Moorpark, Calabasas, and Newbury Park.
FBLA also takes part in state-wide sponsored projects, which are completed individually or as an entire chapter, depending on the project. Project completion will earn members FBLA recognition and make one eligible for scholarships.
